Lorestan University initially started its educational activity as a higher education center in 1977 as the northern branch of Jundishapur University of Ahvaz (Shaheed Chamran). In 1979, the Lorestan branch was separated from Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz and continued its activity under the name Lorestan Higher Education Complex with four educational groups of mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology. In 1993, coinciding with the Supreme Leader's visit to Lorestan province, it was practically and officially promoted from the title of complex to university.
Currently, Lorestan University maintains 34,970 Persian books, 186,862 Latin books, 313,740 articles in Latin and 5,023 Persian theses, and more importantly, it has 453,886 digital resources. Based on the above rich capacity, Lorestan University has started to create a scientific journal of modern researches in Islamic and Iranian history studies. This publication seeks to bring the intellectual and cultural transformations of history to the fore with an emphasis on Iranian-Islamic identity and to have a new approach in the studies of the Islamic world and the developments of Iran's social and economic history.
