Saudi Arabia, one of the important neighbors of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has been trying to recognize Israel by supporting the conciliatory measures of the United States. The closeness of the Saudi government and Israel has been one of the most important factors in the tension between the Islamic Republic and Saudi Arabia in the regional arena. In 1978, Saudi Arabia declared the Camp David Accords a great step towards establishing a just peace; but after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, in a passive political turn, it declared that it should resort to jihad for occupied Palestine. Shortly after, the country announced that it was ready for peace with Israel. This research shows how Iran's change in position from supporting Israel during the Pahlavi era to comprehensive support for Palestine after the Islamic Revolution led to the confrontation between Iran and Saudi Arabia. The main focus of this article is to examine the role of Palestine in the confrontation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia in the years 1978 to 1989, which has been compiled in the form of a library using a descriptive-analytical method and citing historical documents and reliable scientific sources.
