With the beginning of the 14th century, the settlement of tribes and nomads, including the Bakhtiari tribe, was placed on the agenda of the central government. This became one of the important measures of the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Reza Khan. Although the nomads showed resistance to the actions of government officials, the final victory was with them, because the government succeeded in settling the nomads in one place by any means. This research, using a descriptive-analytical method, seeks to answer the question: “What were the goals and motives of the central government in settling the Bakhtiari nomads and the reaction of the Bakhtiari to this action?” The research findings show that the central government had various motives for this action. From tribal evils to insecurity for the country, these had become concerns for the capital residents. For this reason, the government decided to transform the nomads from a house to a place to settle. Although the settlement of Bakhtiari took place from 1310 until the end of Reza Shah's reign, the peak of this action occurred between 1312 and 1316. For this purpose, the government wrote a nomadic settlement regulation and allocated development funds for it, and even Bakhtiari khans such as Morteza Qoli Khan Samsam, along with government officials, made great efforts to settle the Bakhtiari nomads. Khan Bakhtiari was able to settle a large number of nomads in Sardsir in 1313 and in Garmsir Bakhtiari in 1315. Samsam transferred about four thousand people to different parts of Khuzestan and, while building houses, provided them with agricultural conditions.
