Throughout history, genealogy recording has been particularly important for various reasons such as honoring the ancestors and gaining social status. Humans used methods such as keeping information in memory and engraving on inscriptions and tombstones to transmit their ancestry. With the rise of Islam and the spread of literature, this attention to genealogy increased and the science of genealogy became a tool for implementing religious orders and strengthening moral values. The current research examines the influence of Iranians on the science of genealogy in the Islamic era and raises this main question: "What impact did the Iranians have on the science of genealogy in the Islamic era and how can their role in the development and evolution of this science be evaluated?".
This research was done with descriptive-analytical method. First, the data related to the genealogy of Arabs and Iranians and their motivations were collected from historical and hadith sources, and then these data were analyzed using the method of comparison and analysis. An approach that enables a detailed analysis of the relationship between the history of genealogy in pre-Islamic Iran and the development of this science in the Islamic era. The analysis of historical and hadith data indicates that Iranians, using their previous experiences, especially in compiling and editing genealogical texts, have had a tremendous impact on the progress of this science in Islamic societies, and this impact has strengthened cultural and scientific communication between Iranians and Arabs. It has been evident in different Islamic periods.
